All four coaches return for their second season. The season expanded from the first season: each coach has twelve artists on their team, rather than eight as in the first season. The blind auditions and the battle rounds have also been extended.

Adam and CeeLo perform with their teams, then the artists face instant coach elimination - and America's votes to save them.
2x15 Live Quarter-Final Eliminations (2) (April 17, 2012)
The remaining three artists from Christina and Blake's teams discover who among them will move on to the semifinals and who will be eliminated. The Wanted and Justin Bieber both make special appearances.
2x14 Live Quarter-Final Performances (April 16, 2012)
Artists from Team Blake and Team Christina perform, then face an instant elimination, followed by America's votes for their survival.
2x13 Live Eliminations (4) (April 10, 2012)
America's votes are revealed and the remaining six artists must sing for a shot at being saved by their coaches, Adam Levine and Cee Lo Green.
2x12 Live Performance, Week 2 (April 09, 2012)
The remaining artists from Team Adam and Team Cee Lo all perform live, hoping for America's votes to move on to the quarterfinals.

Viewers voted and selected three each to stay from each team. The bottom three have the opportunity to perform one last time and their coach will decide which of the three can stay. Gym Class Heros performs with the four teams.

The coaches fill the last spots on their live round teams after watching their artists perform in the final battles.
